Our stay at Auberge De Castel-Merle was absolutely delightful. The charming renovated property provided a rustic and cozy atmosphere, perfect for exploring the stunning Vezère valley in Dordogne. The location, overlooking a beautiful river valley, created a picturesque backdrop for our adventures. The friendly Franco-Welsh owners were incredibly accommodating, providing excellent recommendations for exploring the historical sites and caves in the region. The breakfast, although not the most inspiring, was sufficient and the entire room was impeccably clean. we highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to experience the beauty of Dordogne.

The incredible views from this charming hotel were simply breathtaking. Watching the river and forest from the terrace was a highlight of our stay. The homemade jam and marmalade were so delicious that we ended up buying some to take home with us. The owners were very knowledgeable and gave us great tips on where to buy wine near Bergerac. The location was also very convenient, being close to Lascaux and they even shared a quick way to get there.
The breakfast was a bit uninspiring, but they did inform us about this beforehand. Additionally, the bathroom was a bit dark for our liking, although the room was extremely clean, which was a major plus.
